2026 Lexus ES: Elegance Meets Electrification

The new Lexus ES combines elegant design with advanced electric and hybrid drivetrains, emphasizing comfort, innovative technology, and commitment to carbon neutrality for diverse mobility needs.

2026 Lexus ES: Elegance Meets Electrification

The all-new, super-buffed Lexus ES bolsters its minimalist disposition with an amped driving experience.

Introduced more in 1989, the Lexus ES has evolved to be a stalwart flagship sedan in the ever-expanding and improving Lexus range. But what was once a car that presented itself in stately elegance, and quiet luxury, has grown up to be an eye-catching addition to the Lexus stable.

The all-new eighth-generation ES leads Lexus into its next era of electrified mobility. Aligned with Lexus’s multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, the all-new ES will be offered in two distinct drivetrains – Pure Electric and Self- charging Full Hybrid Electric, broadening choice for customers with diverse mobility needs.

Developed under the theme Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan, it aims to maximise the benefits of battery electric vehicle technologies by elevating driving quality in every moment, enhancing the ES legacy of quietness, ride comfort, and spacious cabin.

The ES Full Hybrid Electric variant pairs engine performance with electric motor efficiency for smooth, responsive everyday driving, while the ES Pure Electric variant delivers quiet, emissions- free acceleration that represents the next stage of Lexus electrification. Both drivetrains offer the hallmark Lexus qualities of comfort, craftsmanship and effortless performance, enabling drivers to select the powertrain that best suits their needs and lifestyle.

Since 2004, when the world’s first self- charging luxury hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) was introduced with the RX 400h, Lexus has been leading the electrified charge. In 2024, electrified models represented a record 52 percent of the brand’s global sales. With ongoing development across hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric technologies, Lexus remains committed to supporting a carbon- neutral future while meeting the diverse expectations of customers and markets worldwide.

REBORN AND REJUVENATED

You can’t help but noticed that Lexus’ designers threw away the blueprint and started fresh with the new ES. Despite its bold, angular façade, the design philosophy is imbedded the brand’s “Provocative Simplicity” and is built from the concept of Clean Tech x Elegance. Indeed, the refined and clean aesthetics speaks of a design language that blends thoughtfully crafted innovation with the brand’s hallmark technological prowess and reputation.

One could say that the new Lexus ES has been reborn and redefined with this very approach. Aerodynamic and sharp lines accentuate the silhouette, and the design tone has been inspired by the next-generation LF-ZC BEV concept, sublimating in a striking shape that breathes new life into an iconic sedan.

The striking twin L-signature headlamps with integrated functionality are standout features, and run seamlessly into a full- width rear light bar with an illuminated Lexus logo, and sleek integrated door handles. Redesigned front and rear bumpers are futuristic yet refined. Its dynamic silhouette is further defined by a bold rearward-tapering cabin giving it a “trunkless” impression paired with a low, planted stance that echoes the model’s strong driving performance. The signature spindle form is now seamlessly incorporated into the hood delivering a sharper, more contemporary expression – one that will pave the way for future Lexus models.

Even though the car is technically a four-door sedan, the cabin of the all-new ES is a sanctuary of space and the epitome of what clever design can provide in terms of functionality for car owners. The meticulously redeveloped platform and enhanced structural enhancements have resulted in an extension of overall length and wheelbase, resulting in more space and comfort in the interior.

A higher seating position improves ingress, egress, and outward visibility, while slimmed seat and trim elements, together with lower window framing, create a sense of openness and expansiveness. The extended wheelbase—now 2,950 mm (116.1 inches)—provides generous legroom, transforming the rear cabin into a lounge-like environment, ideal for long journeys or daily commutes. The design embodies Clean Tech × Elegance, combining precise lines and expansive glass areas with a gentle sense of enclosure in the lower cabin surfaces.

The unique Omotenashi philosophy is evident in the heart of the cabin interior where the cockpit boasts the world’s first Responsive Hidden Switches – seamlessly integrating tactile controls to craft a clean, immersive, and intuitive interface. Physical switches were preferred over capacitive touch controls to deliver confident tactile feedback and an assured sense of control. Invisible until approached, the switches illuminate gently, offering clear guidance without distraction, while also allowing the driver to maintain illumination continuously according to preference. This harmonious integration of advanced technology and human-centred design fosters a calm, welcoming environment where every element operates discreetly to enhance comfort, control, and confidence throughout the journey.

The cockpit further embodies Lexus’ Tazuna Cockpit philosophy (Tazuna referring to a horse’s reins in Japanese), where every component is designed to support a seamless connection between driver and vehicle. Controls and information sources are strategically located for effortless reach and visibility, reducing unnecessary movement and allowing the driver to remain fully focused on the road. A new low-profile meter hood and a 12.3-inch digital display are positioned to align with natural eye movement, while premium suede materials and ambient lighting reinforce the Tazuna philosophy, creating a driver environment that is both focused and tranquil.

Upon ignition, Omotenashi-led illumination awakens your visual senses. Newly developed dynamic illumination allows passengers to curate their environment through six distinct atmospheres—Ethereal, Mesmerizing, Revitalizing, Serene, Evocative, and Invigorating—each designed to complement their mood and moment. The Mark LevinsonTM Surround Sound System completes the experience, delivering immersive audio precisely tuned for the all-new ES.

A panoramic roof further enhances the cabin’s sense of openness and serenity. Its slim-profile design, featuring a single movable glass panel, creates an expansive, light-filled atmosphere while preserving interior comfort. When opened, a discreet, stowable mesh deflector minimizes wind noise, ensuring a calm and refined environment at all times.

Passenger comfort is further enhanced through meticulous attention to materials, features, and ergonomics. The front seats introduce a new generation of Lexus seating, featuring a slim- profile, split construction engineered to deliver exceptional ride comfort and support for a wide range of occupant physiques, while the rear delivers best-in-class rear passenger space. Furthermore, improved rear-seat accessibility allow passengers to maintain a natural, relaxed posture during ingress and egress, ensuring comfort for all occupants.

IMPECCABLE LEXUS DRIVING SIGNATURE

The Japanese principle of Omotenashi, or anticipatory hospitality, is never far from every element of the Lexus ES. The Lexus Driving Signature extrapolates this into a dialogue with the driver that inspires confidence, pride and exhilaration behind the wheel, helped by clear, predictable and linear human-machine interactions.

Lexus Takumi Masters co-sculpt every surface to unite emotional design with aerodynamic efficiency, while a driver-centric interior provides ideal posture, intuitive controls, and a hushed cabin for seamless connection. Intelligent powertrains complete the experience with smooth, responsive, and predictable performance in every driving condition. Perfected through relentless global testing and continuous refinement at the state- of-the-art Lexus Technical Center Shimoyama in Aichi, Japan, the all-new Lexus ES is engineered to deliver this philosophy through all five senses.

The ES Pure Electric further advances this experience with the Adaptive Variable Suspension system, offering precise shock isolation and responsive dampening to ensure a refined, comfortable ride while reducing body roll for a reassuringly poised drive. It is also the first Lexus model to be equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, a next-generation suite designed to enhance perception and responsiveness.

Advanced technologies, including the Lexus Pre-Collision System, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert, provide intuitive support and peace of mind on every journey.

The ES Pure Electric is anticipated to be available locally from Q2 2026, with the ES Full Hybrid Electric arriving from Q3 2026 onwards.
