VP Bank's sponsorship of golfer Aloysa Atienza emphasizes its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering long-term relationships, aligning with the bank's core values of trust and support.

PARTNERSHIP AND PERFORMANCE

VP Bank’s sponsorship of Singapore golf professional Aloysa Atienza reinforces the private bank’s commitment to supporting young talent.

Centred around the theme of Partnership and Performance, VP Bank Singapore held an exclusive client lunch and fireside chat for a select group of intermediaries and private banking clients. The intimate occasion served to announce VP Bank’s sponsorship of Singapore golf professional Aloysa Atienza to participate in the 2026 VP bank Swiss Ladies Open in August. The event brought together a select group of intermediaries and private banking clients for high-quality engagement focused on relationship building, insight sharing, and access to senior leadership.

The highlight of the lunch, held at Keyaki Restaurant in Pan Pacific Hotel, was the fireside conversation between VP Bank Group CEO Urs Monstein and Atienza, moderated by Golf Asia. Atienza, a SEA Games silver medallist and VP Bank- sponsored golfer competing in the upcoming VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open in August, shared her personal journey, underscoring the importance of discipline, resilience, and a strong support system in achieving sustained success.

“Golfers my age were already playing for Singapore while I was still shooting in the hundreds,” admits Atienza. “I was very determined and had a lot of self-belief in myself, and I felt that I would be good enough to make the national team in time. True enough, when I turned 21, the Singapore Golf Association saw my determination and potential and recruited me into the national team. It opened my eyes to the importance of a good support network and system behind me, and that the journey is a long-term one, and not just results from one or two tournaments.”

This approach also runs parallel with how VP Bank fosters its long-term partnerships that are built on trust, alignment, and consistency. “Preparation and trust in the team are critical,” said Monstein. “Discipline also matters — staying focused on long‐term objectives rather than being distracted by short‐term noise. Leadership under pressure is about creating clarity, staying calm and ensuring the right partners and expertise are in place.”

Urs Monstein further reinforced VP Bank’s positioning as a nimble, high-touch partner, emphasising that meaningful client relationships are built over time through a shared commitment to progress.

“We believe in supporting talent over time, not just at a single moment. Continuing this sponsorship reflects how we think — whether in sports or with our clients,” Monstein provides. “True partnership is about commitment, development and standing by our clients and partners as they grow. In uncertain environments, having a trusted partner matters even more. Whether on the course or in the markets, we want to be the steady, long‐term supporter clients can rely on.”

The privilege to play in the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, an event on the Ladies European Tour, will certainly be a step in the right direction for the aspiring Atienza.

“It definitely means a lot to me to have a corporate partner like VP Bank supporting me and believing in my potential,” Atienza said. “Having VP Bank give me this invitation to play is a great opportunity for me to learn how to handle the pressure better, and to play with the players in Europe.”

VP Bank’s sponsorship of Atienza mirrors its approach with clients. “First of all, we need to understand what the goals are,” advised Monstein. “We need to listen, and consider your views. Then we need to align ourselves and think about the ways we can support our clients.

“A true partnership isn’t built in a single meeting. It’s built over time — through consistency, trust and mutual understanding. For us, partnership means going beyond products. It means staying aligned with our clients’ goals and growing with them across cycles.”

While Atienza hasn’t played in Switzerland, she is no stranger to the tournament. “I haven’t been to Switzerland before, but I watched the last two editions of the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, and saw Alice Hewson won both of them. I’ve gathered a little bit of knowledge just watching how the girls play the course.”

VP Bank has been title sponsor of the Swiss Ladies Open since 2020. Held at Golfpark Holzhäusern, the internationally important tournament attracts over half a million viewers to their televisions every year, promoting women’s golf in Switzerland and around the world.

As naming partner and co-initiator, VP Bank’s sponsorship focuses on unique experiences that are in line with the Bank’s values. Sustainability plays an important role here. For this reason, VP Bank is also committed to long-term sponsorship in order to continuously develop and expand the tournament together with its partners. In this way, the bank pursues the goal of offering golfers and clients unique experiences at the highest level.

Being a financial institution from a country like Lichtenstein, VP Bank understands what it means to start small. “We come from a country with a population of only 40,000,” Monstein said. “But Lichtenstein has managed to focus successfully on certain industries. One is finance.

“We were founded as a fiduciary, and the intermediary business is our background. From there, we learned what private banking means and expanded into it. In our expansion, we went to Zurich, then Luxembourg, and now in Singapore.

“Singapore is a growing market, and to win clients, we need to win in Singapore. Our sponsorship of Aloysa allows us to reaffirm our link to this country. It’s not just for fun, but also to have a shared benefit. Singapore is absolutely essential for VP Bank.”
